GENERAL QUESTIONS


1. Why are your books so cheap?

Publishers sometimes overprint books and can't sell all of them to standard bookstores. These are also known as remainder books. As they are trying to clear their stock, we receive these copies at a discount, which we then pass on to you.

2. Do you sell secondhand books?

No. Our books are all brand new.

3. What do you mean by minor shelf wear and remainder marks on some of your items?

We sell remainder / overprint books. Remainder Books are new, unread books that the publisher sells-off in bulk to reduce excess inventory. In some cases, the publisher may place a mark (a small line or dot) on the edge of the book to identify it as a Remainder Book. The books may also display minor shelf wear. Below are four examples of books with minor shelf wear¹ and remainder mark².
 




¹The wear that occurs as a book is placed onto and removed from a shelf. It may be to the tail (bottom) edge of the covers as they rub against the shelf, to the dust jacket or exterior of the covers (when no dust jacket is present) as the book rubs against its neighbors, or to the head of the spine which some use to pull the book from the shelf.

²The publisher will mark the bottom edges of books sold as remainders with a stamp, a black marker, or spray paint, which speckles the bottom

4. How long does it take to receive my books?

It will usually take only about 3 to 5 business days for your favorite books to reach you after we have confirmed your order.

6. Can you order books for me?

Unfortunately, since we source our books from overprinted supplies, we are unable to order specific books.

We receive new stock regularly; simply set up an account with us if you'd like to be notified.

8. How do I set up an account?

Account membership is free, simply click on “My Account” at the top of the page and fill in your details.

9. I am a BookXcess member, do I get discount when I purchase books online?

Yes of course! As a BookXcess member you can now enjoy member discount when you purchase books online.

10. Can I apply for BookXcess membership via online?

To be eligible for BookXcess membership, you need to purchase above RM 100 in a single receipt* 
Your membership will be activated in 24-hour and you will receive your Member Discount Code via email. We will post the Membership Card to you in two-week time.

*excluding shipping charges

As a BookXcess member, you get to enjoy 5% discount for purchase above RM 50 and 10% discount for purchase above RM 150.

1. How do I locate a book?

We have a wide selection of categories and items that may be overwhelming. To make it easy for you to shop, you can search through the items using either one of these three (3) options:

- Search Field
Key-in book title or author or ISBN or keyword into the Search field found at the top of our page and then press the 'search' button (magnifying glass icon).

- Top Drop-down Menu:
We have an extensive list of categories and sub-categories found on the top of the page, with  drop-down menus. Just move your mouse pointer over each category and click on the categories or sub-categories you want.

- Side Menu:
Once you are browsing inside each product category, the left sidebar will appear and you can opt to shop by categories and sub-categories. Just move your mouse pointer over until the word/bar/icon is highlighted and click.

2. Do you accept orders from outside Malaysia?

3. How long does it take to receive my books?

For domestic order, it will usually take only about 3 to 5 business days for your favorite books to reach you after we have confirmed your order. For overseas order, delivery will typically take 5 business days or more than 14 business days depending on country of destination. The tracking number will be given via e-mail upon dispatch so that you can go online and check the delivery status.

4. What should I do if the book I received was damaged or is not the one I ordered?

If you have received a faulty or damaged item or the item is not what you ordered, please inform us at contact@bookxcessonline.com within 5 business days from the date of the receipt book. It may take approximately 5 to 10 business days for us to organize collection and receive the returned item.
All items will be inspected on return, so please make sure it’s packed properly and can’t get damaged on the way. Upon receiving, we will inform you and exchange will be made in 3 to 5 business days. We will refund your payment including the postage cost if the item is no longer available but after the damaged item or wrong item returned to us.

The above procedures do not apply to our International Orders. If you have received a faulty or damaged item or the item is not what you ordered, please inform us at contact@bookxcessonline.com within 5 business days from the date of the receipt book. All International Orders will be handled on case to case basis.

5. Can I return an item?

We understand that from-time-to-time you may need to return an item to us. *
 
Before returning any items, please notify us at contact@bookxcessonline.com to discuss your reason for a return and organize an approval to return an item to us. Please notify us within 2 business days from the date of receipt of the book.
 
Return items are exchangeable but not refundable. If the Exchange item value is less than the Return item value, there will be no refund for the difference and if the Exchange item value is higher than the Return item value, the customer will need to pay the difference. In both cases, merchant charges for using eGHL or credit card and return & delivery charges will still apply. Bookxcess will not offer an exchange for items that are returned damaged to us or never arrived.
 
*This term does not apply to our International Orders, which is Non-exchangeable and Non-refundable.

6. Do you provide gift wrapping service?

Yes, we provide gift wrapping service and the wrapping paper is absolutely free! Please indicate in your order (at Delivery Method step) if you wish us to wrap the item you have purchased at bookxcessonline.com.

7. Are the Online Store prices the same with the book prices at your retail stores?

We strive to match the Online Store prices with the retail store prices but due to differences in suppliers and foreign exchange movements, some books may have different prices. 9. Can I collect my online purchased books at your retail stores?

Sorry, at this moment we don’t provide collection service at our retail stores. All books will be shipped to your doorstep.

10. Can I request my order to be delivered on specific date or at specific time?

Sorry, at this moment we can't deliver your order at specific date and time as the courier service providers we engaged do not provide this service.

1. How do I place an order?

Step 1: Select the book(s) of your choice,

2. How will I know if my items have been processed/delivered?

After you have checked out, you will be notified via email regarding the status of your order. After it has been shipped, another email will be sent to you with the tracking number, which you can use to track the status of your items at the respective courier website. Details will be provided to you on how to do this in the same email.

3. Can I cancel/change an order after I have confirmed it?

As we seek to send the items to you as soon as the order is confirmed, it may be difficult to cancel the order after it has been confirmed. However, exceptional cases will be dealt with on a case-to-case basis.

4. Can I place my order over the telephone?

It is much more convenient to buy your favorite books through our Internet store, and as such, we do not accept telephone orders.

5. Do I have to key-in my Online Member Discount Code when I purchase books?

Yes, please key-in your Online Member Discount Code  at the Shopping Cart to entitle for discount. BookXcess is unable to refund the discount amount if you've confirmed your order without entering the code.

We only accept payment via credit cards, debit cards or e-banking from participating banks supported by revPAY.
